Unless you are expecting it and know exactly what it is, it is best to check if an email is genuine by going to the sender’s website. Type the address in yourself â€" no copying and pasting. You can then check your account details using your own login details. 2. Set Shared Email Accounts With Easy-to-Remember Passwords It’s tempting to do this for offices that have a lot of email traffic, such as customer services. This article delves into the importance of natural resources regarding women for the roles they play in society, and how the gender imbalance in natural resource management can be rectified. Natural resources offer the means for basic survival Among many societies, it has been observed that women are both the main users and the managers, by default, of natural resources, which are the sources of basic survival. Among African communities residing in rural areas, a big chunk of food security (approximately 80%) and water security (about 90%) is squarely the responsibility of women. Women gather firewood for energy as well as plants and herbs to provide medicines, and they make use of natural resources to sustain the welfare of their families and of the society. The majority of the disadvantaged and impoverished rural population is women whose social roles and obligations make them rely on the various products of the natural resources. As such, any mismanagement of natural resources would more so impact them than it would affect the men. It is then logical to place women in charge or to give them an opportunity to have a greater influence on decisions made relating to natural resources. Loss of natural resources increases vulnerability to external forces As earlier stated, the majority of rural populations count heavily on natural resources for their food, medicine, energy (fuel), and water supplies. Any mismanagement of the natural resources would not only affect those basic survival requirements, but it would also expose the rural populations, the majority of whom are women, to other external forces. Such forces include abrupt changes in population dimensions, wars and conflicts, and fast economic growth. Improving women’s roles in natural resources management Women rely heavily on natural resources for food and sustenance, and have much information on the best way to manage the resources, thus causing them to play a better stewardship role; however, their views in the planning and implementation of these resources are disregarded. Women should be allowed to contribute to the management of these resources to ensure sustainable poverty alleviation and good management of the resources. The obstacles that hinder women from actively participating in the management and benefits from decision-making must be removed. These barriers include insecure land and resources tenure; educational and professional training opportunities; avenues for accessing finances; high exposure to health perils; and economic, cultural, and political barriers.

But here’s what you should know about how it’ll impact your relationship with your current employer and potentially your future employers. Before you quit, assess your situation The first thing you need to do before you consider quitting your job after only three months is to understand whether or not you are quitting because of something that can be fixed. Can the situation be fixed if you speak with your manager? Knowing when to change jobs for good reason, comes with experience. If you can, you should give speaking to your HR department or manager about the situation a chance, first. Finding new employment will always be harder than trying to work with your existing employer. And they are much more inclined to want to work with you, as well. If your employer isn’t happy with your work, you don't have an advantage When your employer isn’t happy with your work or you simply feel like there’s too much friction in the process of getting work done, then it might be easier to quit than you think. Most likely, your employer will be feeling the same pains that you are and will understand it simply, “Didn’t work out.” Employers understand this and even have a term for it, churn. Churn is when a certain percentage of employees are nearly consistently leaving and a new set of employees are replacing them. How will this impact your career path For the most part, leaving a job so soon won’t effect your future. But it won’t be something you’ll be able to put on the resume. For future employers, it might indicate that you are difficult to work with or potentially disloyal. The advice would be to leave this piece of employment off your record. You can simply skip it when it comes to your resume. If you decide not to leave it off, you will have to be sure that you clearly, calmly and unemotionally are able to communicate to future employers why you left your previous job so quickly. Some of those reasons can be as simple as: I wasn’t happy in that role. I decided it was time for me to make a job function change and there wasn’t an opportunity within the company. It simply didn’t work out, both myself and the senior leadership team left on amicable terms. Leaving after 3 months is becoming more common In active job markets, such as Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco, the rate of which employees are changing jobs or companies they are employed by, is accelerating. This is because there is a flourishing opportunity to work for technology startups and more job opportunities are available. Because of this change in the market over the past 5-years, it is not uncommon for someone to leave a job after only three months because they found a better opportunity elsewhere. Pro tip: TalentNow reports that 40% of employees surveyed in 2018 mentioned that they plan on changing jobs in the next year. This means more employers are seeking employees who may be a more stable and long-term hire. You’ll need to break the news to your employer However you navigate the conversation of leaving to your existing employer, it’s important that you keep it short, sweet, and to the point. Make sure that if the situation is that you both feel unhappy with the performance in the position, that you don’t make the focus on that. Simply state to your manager that you don’t feel it’s working out and you’d like to make a change. In most circumstances if you incorrectly estimated your employer's happiness of working with you, they’ll bring it up correctly in that conversation. And it’s not uncommon for them to offer you higher compensation in order to stay if that’s the reason for your leaving. In the most ideal world, you should stay with a company for at least one year, two years to more ideal. The reason for this is that it communicates to future employers that you are easy to work with, you are committed to the companies that you say you want to be employed by and you aren’t deterred by challenges. It is also the correct amount of time required in order for you to truly make an impact or significant contribution to an established organization, which you’ll be able to present and share to others. For those who are trying to leave their first job ever only after three months, the advice would be not to. Try to “stick it out” for at least 6-months or 12-months so that you can have some type of work experience to be able to bring to other opportunities.

How to Make Technology Work for Employee Productivity Business owners today are not left wanting when it comes to applications and technologies that can be quickly and affordably deployed to the workforce. But too much of a good thing can be a problem; today’s worker is inundated with emails, messages and messaging threads; files stored all over the place; and disparate business applications that don’t integrate with one another. It’s no wonder that analyst firm IDC says the typical knowledge worker spends 2.5 hours a day just searching for information. I recently spoke with Taher Behbehani, chief digital and marketing officer at cloud communications provider BroadSoft, about some of the ways business executives can ensure their workforces remain productive despite communications and collaboration challenges. What workforce dynamics are impacting productivity? The modern workforce is a distracted workforce distracted by the challenge to manage more information, applications, and meetings. It is also a workforce that is increasingly mobile, Millennial, and dispersed. The upshot for executives is that today’s workforce “works” differently. Millennials yes, but really most workers spend their day collaborating with different groups of individuals be they colleagues, customers, or partners and often spend much of their day away from the desk and on mobile devices. Maximizing workforce productivity requires that executives remain nimble and adept by providing technologies and tools built around how they work. What are some specific ways work is changing? While voice calls and email aren’t going anywhere, other channels are emerging in order to address current inefficiencies. Office workers already spend more than 30 hours a week checking email, which breaks down to roughly 36 times per hour. Some businesses have tried to reduce this heavy email usage by shifting the workforce to standalone messaging applications, but this just swaps one pain point for another. In BroadSoft’s own 2016 survey of 245 knowledge workers, 43.8 percent of respondents reported using five or more applications for work, with some listing as many as 26, and 44.7 percent of respondents agree or strongly agree that the multitude of applications they use is overwhelming. All of this sends a clear message to business executives that today’s modern workforce seeks an integrated experience for users that simplifies work, rather than making it more difficult. What else is a top productivity pain point? For all of the technology advances in the workplace that have made us more productive, meetings have been a tough nut to crack. Middle managers spend 35 percent of their time in meetings, and for upper management it’s even more at 50 percent literally half the day. But it’s not just the volume of meetings, it’s how unproductive they tend to be. Executives consider two-thirds of meetings to be failures, due to a range of factors, including workers who aren’t prepared and often spend meeting time multitasking on completely unrelated tasks. Finally, workers participating remotely in meetings find it difficult to engage and track everything that is happening. Today’s workforce isn’t always gathering at a set meeting time at a set physical location such as a conference room. Work teams quickly gather and disperse virtually and physically around specific projects, and then a completely different team might be formed for a new project the next day. As a result, we are seeing increased market demand for virtual “workspaces” where employees can not only gather and collaborate with team members for live meetings, but also easily find the tasks, files, notes, information, and applications they need making meetings and any interaction more productive. How can management account for mobile workers? To ensure a workforce remains as productive away from the office as they do from within it, executives should seek out products and technologies for remote workers to not just connect, but engage. For example, workers participating in meetings remotely must have the capabilities to engage and interact from any location, at any time, and using any device. One promising area of technology innovation we are starting to see is the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities into the business and mobile apps employees rely on. Developing Your Own Authentic Spiritual Life - Why It Requires Bravery and Strength Today Part of Kathy Caprinos series Spirituality and Success When I was a child, I was raised in the Greek Orthodox faith, but truthfully speaking, what I heard in church and what I experienced all around me when I was in church, Greek school, or Sunday school, felt very off to me somehow. Even though I was very little, I had a highly attuned radar as to what felt true to me, and what felt wrong and hurtful. And the experiences I had in church and how I saw people behave to each other didnt fill me or connect   me with love and inspiration quite the opposite. As I matured, I started developing my own ideas about how a loving God would speak and behave and it was clear that my own definition was very different from the dogma I had been taught and the rigid beliefs I was exposed to. Very different indeed. I didnt know how to process those differences, and I thought to myself who am I to think I know what a loving God would do and say? so I swept the idea of having a spiritual life under the carpet for many years. I just couldnt reconcile my own hearts longings for more love, compassion, connection, forgiveness and inclusiveness in the world, with everything I was seeing around me that was being touted as religion. I even had the amazing experience of singing for a year in NYCs St. Patricks Cathedral choir, as a non-Catholic. While Im grateful for the experience, I saw once again first-hand how exclusionary and prejudicial organized religion can be. I remember one   woman in the choir leaning over to me and whispering in a critical tone We dont cross ourselves like that here, referring to my Greek Orthodox way of doing the sign of the cross. Even in my 20s I knew that a truly loving God wouldnt care at all how you cross yourself. Then something happened that altered my life and thinking dramatically. I was ejected from my corporate life at age 41 (laid off in a brutal way that crushed me, in the days following 9/11), and like so many of us who had a huge wakeup call after the tragedies of 9/11, something cracked open in me that couldnt be ignored. I suddenly and desperately wanted to connect from a spiritual place with others, and to build more of a spiritual life that felt right to me. And suddenly I was committed to do it. But I faltered in that process as well, trying on different paths that still left me feeling either hurt or disillusioned, or that I had not quite yet found my spiritual truth or home. So I kept exploring, researching and trying on new and older spiritual teachings and practices, to see if they felt right, good, loving and life-affirming to me personally. During my time of professional transformation when I left corporate life and was studying to be a marriage and family therapist and coach, my heart and spirit opened wider than ever before, working with people who had been through so much trauma, pain, abuse and cruelty in their lives. I worked one weekend with first responders whod had served in 9/11 and witnessed the unspeakable and were struggling in themselves and their relationships to process the trauma, and I felt more love, admiration and compassion for others than Id literally ever experienced in my entire life. I still cry when I think of it. Something shifted, and I started relating to people differently from a deep love in my heart and soul, not from my head. Then I found the books of Neale Donald Walsch Conversations with God and said, Yes! Finally! These are messages that I can wrap my heart and soul around. These are messages that for me, help me see a true loving force in the world, not the common messages of exclusion, punishment, hatred, and self-rejection that we so often hear in the name of religion. My eyes were opened to the fact that millions of others in the world were going through their own spiritual exploration and were pursuing their own efforts to develop an authentic spiritual life that may or may not align with the religious teachings were exposed to daily. A next step in my professional training included studying REIKI and other forms of energy healing, which I truly adored. These studies brought me even closer to feeling the experiences of others, connecting deeply with them. Studying energy healing unlocked in me so many ways to feel (in my body and in my emotional and energetic field) what another person is experiencing without the use of words. These approaches and tools are with me today and I use every one of them in career/executive/leadership coaching, training, my writing on Forbes, Thrive Global, and LinkedIn, in my media work and speaking engagements today. About 8 years ago, I was drawn to take a class with Trudy Griswold, a bestselling author of the book Angelspeake about how to connect with your angels, and I found my work with Trudy another amazing and eye-opening experience. I began writing to my angels, and receiving incredible, uplifting messages of love, wisdom and guidance that offered insights that I felt were not coming from me but were emanating from a higher level of support. Then, in 2016, my connection with angels evolved into a deeper practice and experience. In December of 2016, I learned of Lorna Byrne through the work of Mike Dooley (whom I truly admire and enjoy). From the minute I watched Lornas videos, I felt a deep urge and calling from way deep inside me to learn more about her and her work and experiences with the angels. That Christmas week, in 2016, I spent the entire 7 days reading every one of her books and listening to the 9-hour audio version of the amazing, bestselling book Angels in My Hair, and I was thoroughly mesmerized and moved. From that experience, I mustered the courage to reach out to Lorna to ask if I could interview her. She said Yes! and I had the immense privilege and pleasure of interviewing her via video in our Messages From the Angels webinar. Heres the first interview of two we did together: Meeting Lorna All I can say is WOW! Everything Lorna shared felt so very real and authentic for me. I felt changed after being with her, even on video. And just being in connection and conversation with Lorna, I felt what I can only describe as being closer to God and to the divine and a deep source of spirituality and loving compassion within and around me. From that conversation, I longed to meet Lorna in person in Ireland, and spend even more time learning with her. I was able to do just that last April Ireland and my two grown children joined me, and spent a day and a half in Lornas beautiful Ireland home with her daughter, Aideen. Since that time, our lives have changed in ways that are so beautiful and thrilling. We now feel in deeper connection with our beautiful Angels and other forms of spiritual support, and its been life-enriching experience in so many ways for me and my family. After our Ireland visit, I immediately had another deep longing, and that was to be able to help other women experience what I had, being in Lornas presence, and learning from her amazing life and experiences about how we too can connect and speak daily to our Guardian angel and other spiritual supporters. Having the chance to spend time directly in the presence of Lorna in the gorgeous splendor of Ireland, to ask your questions about your Guardian angel and the other angels who are here to support us, and how to learn how to access their guidance about your life, work, relationships, health and more, I believe youll find as I did that Lornas answers are so honest, real, and transformational in their simplicity and love. And society can be extremely judgmental about people who are open about their spirituality. It can be a cruel and judgmental world, where people think for instance, How can you be a leading Forbes contributor, executive/leadership coach and successful business owner and yet connect with angels? These are not mutually exclusive, but many people fear talking and even thinking about spirituality and shun it. And in working with thousands of people a year, I come from a place of respect for their beliefs. If they want to explore developing their own spirituality in their lives, Im happy to. If they want to explore personal and professional growth without touching on spirituality, thats fine too. But I know for a fact that we are much more multi-faceted than we realize (or admit out loud), and there are many aspects to who we are that can inform and enrich our lives, work, careers and businesses.   In my way of thinking, its time that we walk through the fear and start the process of connecting with our true authentic selves, even when that self seems at odds with what our society says is right and acceptable. As long as love, empathy, forgiveness, equality, fairness, compassion, and inclusion are at the heart of it, I think youre most likely on a healing path. If youre like me, you know that rigid and hateful societal beliefs that arent inclusive, arent loving, and arent compassionate simply dont align with how we want to show up in the world, and engage with our fellow humans. And you might feel as I do that its time to find brave every day, to take action and stop being afraid and start to close your power gaps so you can finally step into your own power and strength to build the spiritual life that YOU believe will envelop you in greater and deeper love, support and compassion.
